Why do I have to be a member of a club to get a One Day Licence to compete?
It is now a requirement of Motorcycling Australia. As all of our events are sanctioned by MWA, we need all competitors to be a member of a club to race.

Why do I need a One Day Licence?
As all of our events are sanctioned by Motorcycling Australia, it is a requirement of the permit we obtain to run the event, that all riders must either have an Open National Competition Licence or purchase a One Day Licence. The purchasing of this Licence is mainly to provide Insurance cover to you the rider, event organisers and officials, and spectators.

If I pay for a one day licence when will I receive it?
One Day Licences are issued on the day you ride.  You can collect it when you sign in at entry.

What is Machine Examination and what do they check on the bike?
Every competitor must present his bike and all riding gear for inspection at machine examination. The main purpose of this, is for the event organiser to check that bikes are not damaged in any way that may cause injury to the rider or other riders in the event of an accident. The main items looked at are broken levers, throttle return, wheels, brakes etc. The important thing is to check your bike over before you come to the event and make sure it is top condition.  For Natural Terrain MX it is also a requirement that all side stands and hand guards  be removed and bar ends plugged. It is requirement of the rules of competition that protective clothing be worn during competition. They will check things like is your helmet Aus’ standard approved, MX style boots, goggles, Nylons, jersey, gloves etc. (Juniors are also required to wear protective armour).

Do I have to do all the races on the day?
No, although getting 3-4 races in a day is great value for money. If you choose to sit out a race or leave when you’ve had enough that’s entirely up to you.

I’ve never raced before, How will I know what to do?
When you arrive, head to the Registration/Entry table, just ask the entry crew what to do next, and they will point you in the right direction. It is compulsory to attend the Riders Meeting prior to the race starting. You will find that a majority of your questions about the racing will be answered then. You will also get a practice lap prior to racing commencing to familiarize yourself with the track. Many riders come down a little earlier and walk the track before hand.

How long is the track and are there any big jumps?
The track is normally 2-3 kms long. It is marked out with bunting tape, following the natural lie of the land. It winds through flat paddocks, the side of hills and may include some small natural jumps following the contours of the land.

How do you start?
The T&E is proud to have its own 40 bike metal start gate. Riders are given a 30second and then a 5 second warning, before the gate is dropped. If a rider tries to jump the start and go before the gate is dropped, his wheel will be stopped by the gate and it will not fall until he backs up a few inches.

How do you know when it’s your race?
Every rider will be issued with a Race Program that will show the order of races on the day.
Also the next race will be announced over the PA Loud Speaker well before you are due to be down at the start line.
